Classical Ballet is a highly structured and formalized style of dance, characterized by it’s elegant, graceful movements, precise technique, and storytelling through choreography, often set to classical music. It emphasizes specific body positions, intricate footwork, and the use of pointe work by female dancers. Classical ballet is known for it’s traditional vocabulary and techniques, with origins tracing back to the 17th century French Court Ballet and the 19th century Russian Imperial School of Ballet.

Upon enrolment to the Academy pupils receive grade booklets detailing all practical work, including all terminology required for their specific grade.  The UKA are now offering regulated ballet grades, to produce work set in line with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

If a pupil is not quite prepared to take a grade every year, medal tests can also be offered by UKA Dance in Ballet, in addition to all the other dance styles.  This ensures all pupils can be entered for a Ballet examination each year.
